How Does Solar Power Work?
I first asked myself the query "How does solar power work?" when I was first introduced to solar power. I was given a calculator that was run by solar power. I was entranced by the assumption that there wasn’t any on or off switch. There wasn’t any need for a battery, because so long as there had been enough light, it worked. I was fully dazzled by the solar cell on the face of the calculator.
I’d spend hours covering and exposing the cell trying to work out how it worked. Would it not be superb to be in a position to channel that energy to power all our homes and offices? Well we will be able to. How Does solar electricity Work to with the sun? On a clear and bright day, the sun shines about one thousand watts of energy per square yard of the earths surface. We are making strides in picking up that energy to simply power all our houses and office buildings. The power from the sun will always be there. And the better part is that energy does not cost a thing. This is free energy. So how does solar power work to be able to turn the energy of the sun into electricity for us to power our houses and offices? We all know the sun’s light contains energy.
When that light hits something that energy turns to heat rather like the heat you feel from the sun while going for a stroll or resting on the beach.
When that energy hits different sorts of materials, instead of heat, that energy turns into an electrical current. We will harness that energy to power our houses with electricity. This is known as photovoltaic? How does solar power work with photovoltaics? The technology behind photvoltaics is sort of easy but can be extremely confusing. The concepts is awfully simple to comprehend : when light ( in the shape of daylight ) hits a material called silicon, electric energy in the shape of an electron is released. The troublesome part is in harnessing these displaced electrons.
Solar panels are made of pv cells. How does solar power work to power my house? Solar energy panels can be put on the roof or in your yard to turn solar power into electricity. Solar cells can offer enough energy to power many appliances in your house. If you have enough sunlight and solar cells, you could be able to go fully off grid and get all of the power you want for your home with the solar energy panels. During those times when there’s no sun you can have a battery backup to store that energy and use it when you want it.
